A wind warning is current for waters between Cooktown and St Lawrence.

Synoptic Situation
A weak trough lies through the Torres Strait. A large high in the Great
Australian Bight extends a strengthening ridge over the east Queensland coast.

Peninsula Waters, Torres Strait to Cooktown:
Thursday until midnight:  Wind: SE/NE 10/15 knots north of Lockhart River. SE
15/20 knots south of Lockhart River, increasing to 20/25 knots south of Cape
Melville during the evening. Sea: 1.2 metres in the north and 1.4 to 2.0 metres
in the south. Showers and thunderstorms.
Friday:  North of Cape Grenville: Wind: S/SE 10/15 knots. Sea: 1.2 metres. Rain
areas and thunderstorms. South of Cape Grenville: Wind: SE 15/20 knots, reaching
20/25 knots south of Lockhart River. Sea: 1.7 to 2.2 metres outside the reef,
1.2 to 1.7 metres inside the reef. Swell: SE 1.5 metres outside the reef.
Scattered showers. Isolated thunderstorms in the north.
Saturday:  Wind: S/SE 10/20 knots north of Lockhart River, SE 20/30 knots south
of Lockhart River.
Sunday:  Wind: SE 20/30 knots south of Lockhart River, 15/25 knots to the north.

North Tropical Waters, Cooktown to Cardwell:
A strong wind warning is current.
Thursday until midnight:  Wind: SE 20/25 knots, increasing to 25/30 knots during
the evening. Sea: rising to 3 metres during the afternoon and 1.8 metres inside
the reef. Swell: SE 1.5 metres outside the reef. Scattered showers and isolated
thunderstorms.
Friday:  Wind: SE 25/30 knots. Sea: 3 metres outside the reef and 2 metres
inside the reef. Swell: SE 2 metres. Squally showers. 
Saturday:  Wind: SE 25/30 knots, increasing to 30/35 knots south of Cairns
during the day.
Sunday:  Wind: SE 25/30 knots.

A strong wind warning is current.
Thursday until midnight:  Wind: E/SE 20/25 knots, increasing to 25/30 knots
during the evening. Sea 2.0 to 2.8 metres in open waters. Scattered showers. 
Friday:  Wind: SE 25/33 knots. Lighter winds inshore early morning. Sea: 3
metres in open waters. Scattered squally showers.  
Saturday:  Wind: SE 25/35 knots. 
Sunday:  Wind: SE 25/30 knots.

A wind warning is current.
Thursday until midnight:  Wind: SE 20/25 knots, increasing to 25/30 knots during
the evening. Sea: 2.5 to 3 metres in open waters. Swell: SE 1.5 metres in open
waters. Scattered squally showers.  
Friday:  Wind: SE 25/35 knots. Sea: 3 to 3.5 metres in open waters. Swell: SE 2
to 2.5 metres. Scattered squally showers. 
Saturday:  Wind: SE 25/35 knots. 
Sunday:  Wind: SE 25/30 knots.
