Synoptic Situation
A high over the southern Tasman Sea extends a weak ridge along the far northern
tropical coast. A surface trough over the interior is expected to approach the
east coast on Friday and Saturday with increasing NW winds. The trough moves
offshore into the Coral Sea on Sunday, with winds gradually easing.

Peninsula Waters, Torres Strait to Cooktown:
Friday until midnight:  E/NE winds 5/10 knots. Seas about 0.8 metres outside the
reef. Isolated showers and thunderstorms.  
Saturday:  NE/NW winds about 10 knots with seas to 1 metre outside the reef.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms. 
Sunday:  NW/W winds 10/15 knots. 
Monday:  NE/E winds 10/15 knots.

Friday until midnight:  NW/N winds at 15/20 knots. Seas to 1.5 metres outside
the reef, to 0.9 metres inside the reef. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms
near coast.  
Saturday:  NW/N winds 15/20 knots. Seas to 1.6 metres outside the reef, to 1.2
metres inside the reef. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms near the coast.  
Sunday:  NW/N winds 15/20 knots at first, easing to 10/15 knots during the
morning. 
Monday:  Variable winds 10 knots, tending E/NE at 10/15 knots during the
afternoon.

Friday until midnight:  N/NW winds 15/20 knots, reaching 20/25 knots at times.
Seas from  1.7 metres in open waters. Scattered showers and thunderstorms,
afternoon and night near coast.   
Saturday:  N/NW winds 15/20 knots, reaching 20/25 knots offshore. Seas 1.6
metres in open waters increasing to 2 metres offshore. Showers and thunderstorms
near the coast in the afternoon and evening.   
Sunday:  NW winds to 20/25 knots in the morning, tending SW/SE 10/15 knots
during the day. 
Monday:  SE winds to 10 knots during the morning, tending NE at 10/15 knots
during the afternoon.

A wind warning has been issued for Saturday.
Friday until midnight:  NW/N winds at 15/20 knots, reaching 20/25 knots
offshore. Seas to 1.7 metres. Scattered showers and thunderstorms near the coast
in the afternoon.  
Saturday:  NW/N winds 20/30 knots, easing late in the evening. Seas to 2.5
metres in open waters. Showers and thunderstorms near the coast in the afternoon
and evening.  
Sunday:  NW winds to 20/25 knots in the morning, tending SW/SE 10/15 knots
during the day. 
Monday:  S/SW winds 10/15 knots, tending NE during the afternoon.
